Legend by Marie Lu, a review

written 03 july 2024

A dystopian nation, plagued by, well, plagues and other such nuisances (nation traitors etc). We follow the story of June, who, in her high rank and comfortable chair, gets mingled with a criminal from the streets, Day. A thrilling story full of secrets, death, and action.

My sister recommended me this book and I was pleasantly surprised. Though the language of this book makes its target audience painfully obvious (young teens), I still found myself entertained and interested. Marie Lu has this ability to make you care for characters in a very human way. And yes, I cried at the "JUNE BUG" section. God.

Overall I enjoyed it. The vocabulary is very light so it was easy to read through, and I'm hooked on the world. Guess I'll be reading the other books too..

By the way, apparently this book has a graphic novel? Quite interested to get into that!
